“It’s people”

So, I’m sitting there looking at various movies to rent or buy on ‘Prime’ and was scrolling down the various genres. As I was scrolling down past the science fiction movie row, some thing caught my eye. A movie that came out a couple years after I graduated high school, which I probably saw on HBO or on VHS in the eighties, was ‘Soylent Green.’

When I began to read the synopsis, It all began to make sense. It read, “This is the year 2022. Overcrowding, pollution, and resource depletion have reduced society’s leaders to finding food for the teeming masses. The answer is Soylent Green.”

What has been going on, for the past couple years, isn’t about an insane obsession of the left to save the planet. No, no, no. It’s a desperate attempt to make the 1973 movie vision come true to further centralized statist control over society.

Lets review a few stubborn facts. To grow high yield crops, nitrogen rich fertilizers are a requirement. To grow a wide variety of produce, a large number of specialized farms and ranches of all sizes are needed. To run farm equipment and transportation equipment takes a steady and abundant supply of diesel fuel. Lets address just these three facts.

First, world population has increased from 3.92 billion, in 1973, to 7.79 billion in 2020. World natural gas production has followed a similar increase for use in manufacturing, home heating and appliances, and for fertilizer production which is a major component in the worlds adequate food supply. European instability with oil and fertilizer markets have put pressure on global energy and food production. The Biden Administration’s war on fossil fuel is an existential threat to our domestic food supply, as well as the world’s.

Secondly, as most family farms are small businesses and as the current administration is only friendly to large donor class businesses, the number of family farms and ranches are dwindling. This is resulting in the importation of many farm and ranch produce, dairy, meat and poultry products which used to be produced here. While the industrial large size farms and ranches focus on high yield production of a more narrow array of products, the Biden Administration has not done enough to promote an export market which has caused smaller farms and ranches to fail. Again, the Biden Administration is an existential threat to our food supply.

Thirdly, it is reported that there is a mere 25 day supply of diesel fuel in the United States. As farm equipment runs entirely on diesel, as well as, all of the transportation of goods, and as heating oil in much of the north-east, this is a critical state where any further disruption could impact life. If the supply dips further due to a cold winter and disrupts farming in the spring and into summer, our food supply could be diminished. So, again, the Biden Administration’s war on fossil fuel is an existential threat to our food supply, as well as the world’s.

Couple Biden’s war on American energy with a persistent drought for much of our farmlands, with an inconvenient war which disrupted food, grain and fertilizer supplies regionally and globally for several months, and with a significant number of food processing facilities getting burned down, a potential world food crisis could be brewing.

In the 1973 movie, ‘Soylent Green.’ politicians addressed food shortages the Donner Pass way, “It’s people.” Of course the left has been trying to normalize alternate protein sources for several years now. In response, we’ll hear, ‘its insects,’ so no. I don’t believe people or insects will catch on anytime soon. The left remains mentally ill.

Newsweek; Diesel Shortage Update as Prices Skyrocket Over Fears Supply Could Run Out
{An acute shortage of diesel fuel in the U.S. is threatening to keep inflation and heating bills high in the country through the winter, as prices are expected to continue surging.
New government data released on Wednesday show that diesel supplies are “unacceptably low,” as National Economic Council Director Brian Deese told Bloomberg TV on Wednesday. According to the Energy Information Administration, the U.S. has now 25 days left of diesel supply, its lowest level since 2008.}
