Ukraine ???

There are many facets to this. The fact that one country invaded an adjacent country, for no apparent reason to most of the world, is abhorrent. That said, before the war, steps were in play that could have dissuaded the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

In summer 2021, there was a $100M defense package in negotiation between USA and Ukraine which included significant numbers of Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and Javelin anti-armor (tanks) missiles. In early summer, Biden froze those negotiations. After a few weeks into the war the negotiations appeared to have resumed losing the deterrent value those additional weapons could have provided. The Ukrainians were fortunate that the Trump Administration had provided a significant number of Stingers and Javelins, to deter the Russians at that time.
