Never-Trump National Review Still Butt Hurt | by MikesView

What started this was when I attempted to watch some documentary, on Amazon Prime, called, ‘American Feud: A History of Conservatives & Liberals.’ It was billed as a, ‘non-partisan journey through the history of Liberalism & Conservatism since the 1890’s.’

Before I started watching, I checked the cast and found three names. Noam Chomsky, Thomas Frank and G. Gordon Liddy. Right away, you could see where this was going. One on the far-left, one left of center and one on the far-right (supposedly). Ok, so I knew going in that there would be a left bias. Especially something presented as non-partisan on Amazon, where Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post, just sayin’.

Once the documentary starts, the production company name is shown. I looked up that name and found a webpage for the documentary, https://www.nerdsmakemedia.com/feud/ . There is a list of names of those supposedly interviewed. At first it appears to be somewhat balanced, though with the knowledge that is would be tilted to the left from the start. Then two names, supposedly on the conservative side of the ledger, jump out as they are both Never-Trump writers. This 2017 update to this documentary, to the original from over ten years earlier, would cover President Trump.

Both David Boaz and Mona Charen have been known as conservative writers for years. However, they exposed themselves as confirmed Never-Trumpers in early 2016. In the January 22, 2016 issue of National Review, ‘Against Trump,’ the hit piece,
‘Conservatives against Trump,’ featured twenty two supposedly conservative writers each with a reason they didn’t like Donald Trump as a candidate for President. https://www.nationalreview.com/2016/01/donald-trump-conservatives-oppose-nomination/

So the deck was stacked in that documentary. Yeah, I didn’t bother watching it. The problem is, the production company is claiming it to be ‘non-partisan’ but should admit the ideological left bias. Unfortunately, they are passing it off as a, ‘non-partisan classroom friendly documentary.’

While I was at the National Review website, I came across an article, ‘Trump Isn’t a Nazi. He’s a Failure.’ by Kevin D. Williamson on December 27, 2019. This writer must be the most butt hurt Never-Trump person at National Review. In his piece he offers this, supposedly as a conservative, ‘The case against Trump in 2016 was that he is unfit for the office. The case against Trump in 2020 is — or should be — that he is not very good at his job.’ You probably wonder if Williamson has been paying attention. Then he actually says in his piece that, ‘… intelligent approach for Democrats (and for us lonely few anti-Trump conservatives) would be to … .’ Well, there it is. By publishing this, National Review proves it hasn’t changed since early 2016. At this point, Republicans should ignore National Review. I stopped reading their elitist magazine after the January 22, 2016 issue. They were once a great voice for conservatism and Buckley pragmatism. No longer.
