From the natural haze, plus leaded gasoline emissions in the Los Angeles basin, wacko environmentalism’s test tube of anti-capitalist behavior found that imposition of extreme environmental laws would lead to retarding or contracting economic growth. While reasonable laws were put in place long ago, which had a positive affect on the environment, the current state of environmentalism appears to be hell bent on slowing economic growth to reduce pollution. That is only a ruse.

When worldwide communism collapsed, those ideologues had to hang their hat somewhere. Someplace that would further their anti-capitalist agenda. Someplace that could tug at emotions of the union educated ‘low information’ masses (see my posting on 2/26: NetRight Daily: What do the Enviros Really Want?). But the hit on economic activity is not the only area where these once well intended interlopers have wreaked havoc without regard for the health and safety of others.

Besides the increase in world pollution, due to their domestic attack on American business, when they demonized DDT in the ’70’s, the resulting effect was to allow a resurgence of the malaria born mosquito. Tens of millions of deaths later, the World Health Organization now recommends use of DDT (indoors). Instead of reacting reasonably to the perceived problem at the time, the environmentalists reacted with apocalyptic rhetoric leading to an outright worldwide ban.

But a more recent insidious action, by extremists of the environmental movement, has been the attack on genetically modified food (golden rice). As the article notes, about eight million children, worldwide, have died and millions more have been blinded due to vitamin A deficiency. The genetically modified food solution was delayed for over twelve years by this wrongheadedness.

With inclusion of sympathizers of the former Soviet Union, their agenda has become more overt, where their actions are now targeted at impeding economic activity, regardless of how that affects the livelihoods of families and individuals.
