I was born at the California Hospital Medical Center (then known as the California Hospital). So was my brother Pat, a few years later.
After that, in Fall, 1953, my folks moved from Echo Park to a place on Madison Ave., a few blocks south of where Sunset Blvd. and Hollywood Blvd. intersect, and just north of Santa Monica Blvd.
A year or so later, in 1954, they moved us to Santa Fe Springs in east LA County. Around the time my brother Pat was born, in 1956, my folks bought a new house out in Anaheim, where we stayed until late 1961. It was on a road called Anaheim-Olive Road, which later became Lincoln Ave. The subdivision was a few blocks east of State College Blvd. At that time, there were orange groves in almost every direction except west towards State College Blvd. I went to kindergarten through the first part of third grade at Sunkist Elementary School, on Sunkist Ave. The Anaheim house was here:
In late 1961, about six to eight weeks into third grade, we moved to Downey, in south east L.A. County. I guess Dad was sick of commuting to L.A. on I-5, the Santa Ana Freeway, a parking lot even then. Stayed there through high school. Graduated from Warren High School in 1971. Here is the house where we lived until 1972:
I lived in numerous places after high school. Anaheim, Downey, Big Bear, Downey again and finally went in the Air Force in 1976. After basic training, at Lackland AFB, near San Antonio, TX, and technical school at Lowrey AFB, between Denver and Aurora CO, I spent three years and three months at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho. When I finally left the AF at the end of April, 1980, I returned to California and stayed in Downey, Orange Park Acres, Anaheim, Long Beach, Yorba Linda and Brea. The first house my name was on the title for was in Fullerton from 1987 to 1992:
After Caitlin was born in '91, more room was needed, as the only room available was pretty dedicated as a bedroom for Brent and Ryan. The Fullerton house was sold and my name went on another title for a house in Brea from 1992 to 1995:
In 1995, I moved to Georgia. After living in Savannah for a year, my name went on another house title, this time in Richmond Hill, GA. We stayed there for four years until 2000:
In 2000, we moved to Forest, Mississippi, in the central part of the state, off of I-20. This was the fourth house I had bought, this one with Kim, and we stayed until 2005:
